It’s important to get the hinge side right when you buy a new front door. By looking at your front door from the outside, you can see which side the hinges are on; if they’re on the right side, the door is right-hinged. If they are on the left side, the door is left-hinged. This is especially important if there is a wall, pillar, fence, or similar structure in front of the entrance, so that it doesn’t become impractical.
