THE SPIRIT OF THE MILLENIUM DECADE

The period after the millennium was marked by the new information technology. The economy went into an economic bubble that ended in the IT crash. The economy recovered and from the middle of the decade there was a boom. In the autumn of 2008, the whole world was hit by the financial crisis because of a mortgage crisis in the United States.

THE ARCHITECTURE IN THE MILLENIUM DECADE

During the decade, a mixture of styles from different times is combined with international influences. Plastered houses with solid wood sections, tin roofs and large glass sections became popular. At the same time, many historic villas were built and they often mimicked the villa architecture of the 1890s.

EXTERIOR DOORS OF THE MILLENIUM DECADE

The wooden doors in oak and teak reappear in lavish houses and are more in proportion to the value of the villa than before. Spray-painted doors with elongated glass both vertically and horizontally are becoming common. Door canopies are once again becoming popular for protecting the front door of modern houses where the doors are without protective balconies. The requirements for burglary security have increased and more advanced locking systems are introduced to the market.
