THE SPIRIT OF THE 1990'S
The boom from the end of the 1980´s lasted until 1991 when the Swedish real estate industry collapsed. The Swedish krona was released from the ECU and, there was a rapid weakening of the krona’s value. Interest rates were shockingly raised. The economy recovered towards the end of the decade with the new IT technology as the economic engine. The Internet made its way into Swedish families and companies and economic globalization spread at a rapid pace.
ARCHITECTURE IN THE 1990´S
The houses varied in appearance, with inspiration from different eras. “Individual” and “unique” were ideals that customers tried to reach, even in house construction. At the same time, the solutions would be cheap and simple in response to the economic crisis. Well-insulated villas with slabs on the ground with wood panelling as facade material were common. Inside it was modern with open plans and kitchen islands. In exclusive villas, parts of the upper floors and attics were sacrificed to provide airy spaces with high ceilings.
EXTERIOR DOORS 1990'S
During the 1990´s, the door factories acquired cnc machines that enabled larger volumes and the producers could mill grooved patterns in the surface layer or, for example, easily make round glass openings. These exterior doors were often spray-painted in white, but strong blue and red colours also became common. The front door usually had a glazing with several shapes and styles to choose from. The entrance of the commonly used historic villa had a rural romantic style, often with a balcony above.
