Modules are a simpler way to describe the door size. Different manufacturers have slightly different external frame dimensions. A 10×21 door is meant to fit a hole in the wall that is approximately 1000×2100 mm, a Bovalls 10×21 door is in reality 990x2083mm which ensure the door always fits the hole.

What is a double-cylinder lock?
It is a system that enables locking the door from the inside as well, allowing you to safely leave your home. Even if a thief breaks into your house by smashing a window, he will still need the key to open the door from the inside, meaning he gets trapped inside and cant leave the house with any bigger valuables, such as your TV or furniture. How often do i need to paint my door?
A brush-painted door needs maintenance, just like an oiled door. How often depends on what sort of paint that was used. We use Jotun ultimate window, and we recommend bettering the door with paint after about 5 years, or earlier if the door looks worn and has been exposed to a lot of wind and rain.

Do you really need to oil teak?
Hardwood doors never stop needing oil, they need to be continuously treated to not loose their color and become grey. If left untreated and dried out, the teak will start absorbing moisture from the air and rain, which makes the door swell. Swelling can lead to several different problems, such as the door bending making it hard to shut close. Depending on how exposed the door is, a teak door can need to be oiled several times in one year

What does solid wood mean?
When we write that a frame is made of “solid oak” it means the frame is made from 100% oak heartwood, no veneer or boards. Our solid doors (eg. Ramsö, Råssö, Tjärnö) are made up entirely of wood and glass, no board materials are used whatsoever. See how our different doors are built up.

What does Freijo and teak have in common?
Both of these woods are hard, heavy and strong types of wood. Teak is probably the most reliable type of wood there is. Recently sawn teak is usually brown and mottled spots that are black, green and even pink. However the spots usually even out very quickly when exposed to sunlight, leaving the door with its regular, dark brown look.
Freijo has a very flamboyant structure, which doesn’t even out as quickly as teak but instead stays much more lively all throughout its lifetime. Freijo is also brown, but lighter and more yellow in its tone, whilst teak has a darker, more red tone.
-
What is Freijo?
Freijo is a Brazilian hardwood that has a very similar color and structure to teak. We mostly use it in our frames for teak doors or on its own in our solid freijo doors.

Do you make any flush veneer exterior doors?
No, we no longer manufacture any exterior doors with only veneer exteriors. Veneer is very sensitive to weather, and can easily get damaged by moisture etc. over long periods of time. Because of this, we only make solid wood doors, or panel doors with thick solid panels outward.
-
Do you build doors with sidelights to?
If you want a door with sidelights, we build both of these together in the same frame. It will be more visually striking while at the same time being easier to install. For freight reasons, we only build the sidelights in the same frame when the module is 20x21M or below.
-
Why do you have aluminum plates in your doors?
The aluminum plates are put into the doors to increase its structural rigidity and form stability.
The inside of a door is almost always kept dry and warm, this makes the tree shrink, but the plates expand. Same thing on the outside, when the wood gets moist and cold, it swells, while the plate shrinks in size. The two different materials counteract each others movements, making sure the door doesn’t get deformed.
-
Why are black painted doors troublesome?
A door that is painted black and exposed to sunlight can get extremely warm, up to 80*C.
Since wood is a living material that adapts to the climate, it shrinks and dries out under such high heat, and then swells when it gets moist outside. This makes the door constantly change is size and move around, which can make the door bent and misshaped over time.

Which paints and colors do you use?
